The combined U.S. market for membranes used in liquid and gas separating applications is estimated at approximately $1.7 billion in 2010, and is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.9% during the 5-year forecast period to reach $2.3 billion in 2015.

In 2010, conventional liquid separations account for 89% of U.S. demand, or nearly $1.5 billion. Membrane module sales for liquid separations are forecast to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.9% to reach $2 billion in 2015.

Combined sales of products used in gas separation, pervaporation, and novel processes are predicted to grow at a CAGR of 6.6% through the survey period, from an estimated $180 million in 2010 to $247 million in 2015.
